Sports Massage

Sports Massage is an integral part of training. Our treatments keep the body free from adhesions and tissue damage, which is caused by overuse, helping to maintain function and movement. The treatments are also a great way of flagging up any potential injuries, before they become noticeable
or problematic.

A range of techniques are used including deep tissue massage and soft tissue therapy, where appropriate. You will be assessed to see if there are any ‘niggles’ and a plan will be defined to ensure these are dealt with as quickly as possible.

Kinesiology Taping (KT) can be applied if required. Find out more about KT here.

Pre-Event Massage

Pre-event massage is a great way to warm-up for an event or activity. Pre-event massage awakens the nervous system, increases the blood flow and flexibility, and helps prepare and focus the mind. The techniques used are light, but invigorating.

We are situated in a convenient and central location for local gyms, water sports, runners, cross fit, climbing, weight training and cycling, so our pre-event massage is a great way to warm up before your training session or competition.

Post-Event Massage

We recommend a post-event massage within 72 hours of your sport/activity. Post-event massages can be 30 minutes focusing on a specific area, 45 or 60 minutes for a full body massage. They are slow and relaxing, helping the body to unwind.

Post-event massage is excellent for decreasing the Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (DOMs) by encouraging the removal of toxins and lactic acid in the body. This in turn prevents stiffness, which will minimises the reduction in your performance when you return to your sport. If applied soon after the event, the massage can be incorporated as part of the warm down.
